Christopher A. Haiman, Sc.D.

Career Summary:  Dr. Haiman is Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine in the Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute at USC Keck School of Medicine. He received his Sc.D. from Harvard School of Public Health (Boston, MA) in 2000. His primary area of interest is genetic epidemiology.

Description of research performed:  Dr. Haiman's research is focused on understanding genetic susceptibility to breast and prostate cancers in minority populations.
Results of research:  Dr. Haiman has been able to identify genetic risk factors for breast, colorectal, and prostate cancers. He has also described ethnic and racial differences in the smoking-related risk of lung cancer.
