Over $1 Million Raised for Cancer Research
STOP CANCER’s 25th Anniversary Gala took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and ended on a perfect note thanks to the talented Sam Harris who performed after a live and silent auction and a cut-to-the chase video featuring past STOP CANCER grant recipients and the directors of UCLA’s Jonsson, USC Norris and City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Centers. The magical moment of the evening was the Awards Ceremony honoring two very special couples.
Arlene & David Ray, Founding Presidents of STOP CANCER, received the STOP CANCER Award of Distinction from Gala Chair and STOP CANCER Co-Founder, Sherry Lansing. Lois and Ronald H. Bloom were the inaugural recipients of the Dr. Armand Hammer Philanthropy Award, presented to them by Michael Hammer, Dr. Hammer’s grandson who is continuing the family legacy of philanthropy and making a difference in the fight against cancer.
We are grateful to our partner, Protravel International, who was responsible for the unbelievable hotel stays and Crystal Cruise donated to STOP CANCER, stays that were packaged with long-time partner, American Airlines’ Business Class tickets. Our auctioneer, Roy Gamityan of Great American Group, shared his enthusiasm and expertise in raising top dollar for each Live Auction item while our loyal friends and supporters at Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. donated the beautiful 2013 Lexus GS that was the Grand Prize of the Raffle.
