Description of research performed:  Dr. Gomperts’ research focuses on understanding the early, pre-cancerous changes that happen in the lung during the development of Lung Cancer. Thus, the goal of her laboratory is to cure lung cancer by preventing it from occurring in the first place
Results of research:  Dr. Gomperts’ lab has identified mechanisms involved in the development and progression of pre-cancerous lesions to Lung Cancer and is working to develop targeted strategies to promote the normal airway epithelium and prevent precancerous lesions and therefore lung cancer.
